Where to find answers

What is that? Should I worry? What should I do?

Here are some tips if you are looking for answers to medical questions:

You can find lots of medical information online. Some of the information is legitimate and some is not. It is often difficult to tell the difference.

As a rule any site that ends in ‘.gov’, ‘.edu’, ‘.org’ are more reliable than ‘.com’ sites though many ‘.com’ sites are helpful.

Here are some helpful and reliable sites:

http://familydoctor.org/

http://nih.gov/

https://jamanetwork.com/collections/45423/jama (internal medicine patient-information)

http://mayoclinic.org/ (look under health library)

https://connect.mayoclinic.org/ (support groups)

http://cdc.gov/

https://www.maine.gov/dhhs/mecdc/

Remember if you are a member, you can always call Dr. Dater for the answers!
